Who?

A course for managers, supervisors, team leaders or any member of staff who would like to communicate more effectively with work colleagues, team members, departmental staff or customers.

Why?

Sometimes we are challenged to communicate effectively with people who we may consider to be difficult. This course is designed to help staff avoid negative conflict and deal more effectively with difficult situations and possible confrontation involving members of the public or work colleagues.

The purpose of this course is;

•To reflect on and understand why people may behave in a particular way

•To develop an awareness of our personal responses to challenging behaviour  and consider ways of managing an emotional state that supports appropriate action

•Recognise signs of aggravated behaviour patterns and potential conflict

•Assess and practise a range of strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively

What?

Drama and the use of actors will form the core approach in this programme. Drama is a very powerful medium that gets as close to reality as possible without any of the consequences of real life. Learners will have the opportunity to observe a conflict situation. They will consider how it might be managed and then coach the characters so that the situation is resolved positively.

A range of behaviours will be assessed and strategies for managing an effective outcome with each of them will be discussed and put into practice. This practice will be supported with a variety of frameworks from Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Emotional Intelligence.  These frameworks offer effective tools to manage emotions, construct language to support good communication and the building of excellent rapport.

For as long as he could remember, Dick has harboured a hatred of his supervisor.  He knew his behaviour was irrational but somehow he just couldn't snap out of it.

 All our courses are bespoke and originated following extensive research.  The information given here is for guidance only.  The characters in the example situation are fictional.  Any likeness to real people or events is purely coincidental.
