Who?

For senior managers who have responsibility for leading organisational and team performance.

Why?

•To reflect on personal practice and assess skills development to achieve excellent leadership qualities

•To analyse leadership styles and practice new ways of leading to improve motivation and performance

•To develop communication skills and the building of rapport with individuals and teams

•To recognise the importance of leading by inspiring and the impact of emotional well being

How?

A pre course investigation will help us to develop a programme that is relevant to the needs of learners.  We may include presentation skills, communicating a difficult message, leading through change and motivating through purpose.

In addition to many of the techniques referred to on other courses, we can explore how role models from familiar narratives can give us new insight.  Themes may include the characters and stories of Shakepeare, the archetypes from Charles Dickens' fiction or famous leaders of our time and from history.  Scenes are carefully selected to present various aspects of leadership qualities, then played as a piece of theatre.  Learners will have the chance to speak with the characters, as in the interactive case study.  Learners will act as consultants to the character to instigate fast and effective solutions. This lively and highly engaging approach is designed as a fun and challenging opportunity for people to experience various ways of inspiring and leading people effectively towards optimum performance.

Penny was persistent in her attempts to make the department live up to their reputation.  Targets had been raised, the heat was on, yet there were the same few employees who refused to play ball.
