What?

For anyone who wants to develop their understanding of diversity issues and to practice an inclusive and respectful attitude towards people.  This course can be tailored to meet the needs of managers and leaders who want to instill a respectful culture in their organisation.

Why?

• To develop knowledge and understanding of people and cultures that are not like our own

• To reflect on the meaning of dignity and respect in practical terms

• To recognise attitudes and behaviour that support respect for all

• To explore the role of a diversity advocate

How?

This course usually includes reference to relevant legislation. We recognise that prevailing attitudes and behaviour may be ahead or behind current legal requirements regarding equality and diversity and can work with you to design a course that will meet the particular needs of your organisation.

Examples of recent courses include:

(i) a course on  transgender using an interactive case study that demonstrates how the seemingly harmless comments and behaviours of the team made one person feel like a total outcast.

Paula has thought many times about handing in her notice; promotion has been denied yet again and the facilities management committee have asked her to step down.  Paula simply wants to  be accepted as a female member of staff.

(ii) a course on respect for older people, again using an interactive case study presents the well meaning but misguided deeds of a care provider in a home for the elderly.

Sue hates it when Des continually seems to complain about the poor care he is receiving.  If only he knew what a hard job she had, and that if he stopped complaining for a while Sue might be inclined to pay him a bit of respect!

All our courses are bespoke and originated following extensive research. The information given here is for guidance only - the characters in the example situations are fictional. Any likeness to real people or situations is purely coincidental.
